Commontide

For Mercy

Almighty God, you have not dealt with us according to our sins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities; grant that we, who for our evil deeds deserve to be punished, by the might of your grace may mercifully be relieved; through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Psalter

Psalm 124

A Song of Ascents. Of David.

If the Lord himself had not been on our side, now may Israel say: if the Lord himself had not been on our side, when men rose up against us,

Then would they have swallowed us up alive, when they were so wrathfully displeased with us;

Then the waters would have drowned us, and the torrent gone over us; then the raging waters would have gone clean over us.

But praised be the Lord, who has not given us over to be prey for their teeth.

We escaped like a bird out of the snare of the fowler; the snare is broken, and we have been delivered.

Our help is in the Name of the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.
